About Us

Critical Discourse & Thinking (CDT) is an independent think tank committed to developing forward-thinking strategic analysis of complex societal questions. Established in recognition of the potential transformative impact of the next generation of thinkers shifting how knowledge is produced, shared, and engaged with, CDT exists to drive that shift head-on.

The 21st century is defined by shifts in digital and technological innovation, as well as in political, economic, and cultural landscapes; the imperative for nuanced, rigorous engagement with complex African issues becomes even more urgent. Policies must reflect these changes. CDT creates the space where these evolving issues are interrogated, critically examined, and globally contextualized.

At CDT, we believe that the foundation of any thriving society lies in its ability to think deeply, challenge assumptions, and engage in data-driven, solution-oriented discourse. That’s why we focus our work on developing the intellectual frameworks and conversation spaces necessary for critical thinking and the discourse of it to flourish. We are not reactive; we’re invested in long-term, innovative, and future-facing ideas.

Our vision

Leveraging critical dialogue to foster Africa’s agency and advance the continent’s position as a constructive and influential actor within the international system.

Our commitment

True progress emerges beyond isolated efforts to a sustained, intergenerational dialogue, where ideas are debated, refined, and advanced with purpose. Africa’s future will be shaped by bold visions and the capacity to critically engage with its past, harness its present potential, and assert its place in shaping global outcomes.

We are committed to fostering spaces where knowledge is co-created, diverse perspectives are valued, and policy is informed by both lived experience and rigorous inquiry.

We commit to honoring a continuum of thought and action that contributes to an inclusive international system, one in which Africa is a subject of global affairs and a co-author of its direction.

We Invite Collaboration

We are open to partnering with institutions and individuals working to advance African discourse and global engagement.
